    10. If the Rockets are in, who’s out?

Fans of every incumbent Western Conference playoff team bristle whenever experts predict their team will miss the playoffs. But here’s reality: The Rockets, with Yao Ming looking (relatively) healthy alongside a deep core of solid players, are well-positioned to make the postseason again after a year away. That means a very good team from last season’s top eight is headed back to the lottery. The smart money is on Phoenix or Denver, but no one outside the Lakers is guaranteed anything in the West.

    cant wait for tonight!

My money is on PHX, too. I had doubts about Utah, as to whether Al Jefferson would fit, but they have looked fine so far. Portland can have another big bout of injuries and finally cannot take it any more this time (their saviors last season, Andre Miller and Marcus Camby, are old and only getting older).

Of course, one significant injury can change things for everyone (including the Rockets). Imagine if Durant's out for a stretch, how good will the Thunder be then, even with all of their other young talent?
