So, today, on my way into work, I decided I was feeling lucky and I'd stop and get a lottery ticket. I get to the counter, and the lady asks me if I'm old enough. I'm like, "Yeah," and I whip out my license. Now, I'm 18, but when you ask most people how old they think I am, you'd get an answer anywhere from 18 to about 24 (One lady actually asked me if I was 24 last week).

Anyways, the lady takes my liscense, and looks it up, looks me down, and repeats the process about 5 times. Then, all of a sudden, she goes, "I'm sorry, but this looks nothing like you."

Right away, I'm doing a "WTF!?!" in my head. Kind of caught me off guard. I was just like, "Ummmm...okay?" Then I said something like, "I guess I can't make you sell me a ticket." She responded with an, "Yeah, I wouldn't really feel comfortable selling to you."

So I left the store. I was so shocked that I just laughed and wasn't mad or upset or anything at all. Come to think of it, I should have showed her my social, then my student ID, and made a scene of it. I should have been like, "Look lady. I'm not stupid enough to get a fake social, a fake license, AND a college ID? Besides, if I wanted a fake one, I would have just opted to be 21, because I don't smoke, and lottery tickets aren't a big deal."

Oh well. I hate it when these peole go on power trips and do stupid things. I guess I'm still on shock about that, but I'll get over it.

Anyone else ever had anything like this happen to them?

Only with fake IDs I was using to get in a college bar during high school. (OK, not really a bar... more like a...disco.

Last time I was carded was at least 20 years ago.

I'm 22 and I still get carded at movie theatres. It's like who the hell enforces the rule about age to see an R Rated movie?

I've actually had them card some people I was with, who were days shy of 17. I saw the girl working letting people in who I knew weren't old enough, so I went and was very blunt with the manager, and found myself getting my friends let in. ;)

ill be 24 this year, about 2 weeks ago i go in to a store to buy beer and similar thing happens. the lady looks at the license, looks at me, looks at the license, hands it back and says, "sorry, this isn't you." i was like? huh???? kinda shocked, and she says, "this isn't you"

i was like, "yeah lady it is." then the manager walks over looks at it a for a second, and says, sell it to him.... i paid and left.

i thought it was funny that it was the first time that has happened, and ive been 21 for almost 3 yrs.

some idiot swung at me when i was working at walgreens because i told him his id looked fake, and i wasnt gunna sell him cigarettes.

i asked him his license number, he had no clue, his DOB, he was clueless, i asked him if hes an organ donor, and he didnt evne know that.

then he got pissed, took the license flicked me off and left, then came back and swung at me. missed, then left in a car that his friends had been waiting for him in.

    That's horrible.

To be honest, I'd have no idea what my license number would be...I just know it has a bunch of 9's...lol

I would know my birthday and that I'm am not an organ donor (yet, at least), however.

I would never think about being that upset about something like that either. Kind of stupid.

Don't put your Social Security card in your wallet. You need it when you apply for a job, and it's a b**** to replace.

I'm 35 and got carded the other day for the first time in a long while. It was weird.

About 5 years ago I was buying beer and cigs and the lady rang up my beer then carded me for the cigarettes. She said I had to look 30 or something for them. That was really weird.

I'm 45, and every time I go into Luby's around 5PM, they ask me if I want the Senior Citizen discount.

    :(

yea i especially hate when they ask at movie theaters. the only people who ask are stuck up ugly fat girls with greasy hair and fruity fat teenage boys. I emphasize fat cuz i have never been ask to show my ID for an R rated movie by anyone who was of normal weight.

Man, I used to buy tickets to R-rated movies when I was 12. Not because I looked old, because I probably looked like I was 9 at the time. Just because the folks at my local theater didn't give a ****.

I'm used to looking younger than I am, but it's obvious that my youthfulness has somehow disappeared. Toddlers used to come hug me. Chicken hawks used to proposition me. Liquor stores used to card me. Then, those things stopped happening so much. Now, it never does.
