It says Fox SW, but in the past we have been subject to a blackout. This is my first year with cable NBA league pass, had Direct TV last year, and we never got blacked out. Will the game be on or not? Thanks, DD
HAHA.. are you new to Austin? they (FOX SW) tease us every single year and when gametime comes around.. we get motorcross or something to that effect. quite frustrating to say the least. but since you have NBA league pass, you are going to be able to watch it through that. However when i had it, many times the cable would scramble, and you couldnt see jack. anyone know what im talking about?
I'm expecting the game to be on. I don't remember having any problems with blackouts last year, although it seemed to be a problem either the year before or the Pippen year.
I don't see any reason why it won't be on. Of course, this town and it's stupidity when it comes to television and radio will never cease to amaze me.
So far all Spurs games have been blacked out on Time Warner Cable's LP whether or not the game is being carried by Fox SW or KNVA. Fox SW is the only carrier of tonight's game so its Fox SW or nothing.
It's actually not an Austin thing, it's an NBA thing. They have this rule (or used to) where the Spurs are "Austin's team", so their games get blacked out on satellite. Just like in Houston, I guess the Rockets games are blacked out on satellite (???). But it seems like they may have changed that last year or the year before, because I don't recall having that problem in a while.
The thing I don't understand is why the games are blacked out if viewers in Austin have no access to the games. I understand if its on local Austin TV or on Fox SW, but if the game is being broadcast by the WB in San Antonio only, few people in Austin have rabbit ears strong enough to pick up that signal. The NBA policy regarding LP makes no sense in Austin.
It will most likely be on FSSW, thought it willb e balcked out on League Pass, I am pretty sure. Of course, Joel Myers will probably be announcing, so get those mute buttons handy.
BTW, the game was on FSSW but we had the Spurs broadcast crew. Tony Parker vs. Steve Francis? One on one...laughable Franchise will break him in half like warm French Bread.
