I'm heading up to Dallas on Saturday to see some movies that aren't here in Austin yet while RM95's Girl is at mock trial practice at a law firm up there. (BTW, if any of you attorneys know a law firm looking for a soon-to-be recent grad, I know someone! :) ) My question is, what are some good places to grub? We don't want any foo foo crap. Price range up to $20 per person.

    Thanks.

Champ's on Beltline (in Addison) is money. Lots of big screen TV's with plenty-o-sports action. Its just north of the LBJ Freeway and the Tollway. The food is badass (none of that Aussie crap here) and you might run into a Cowboy, Star, or Maverick there as well.

Basically Beltline is Restaurant row so you can pretty much chose whatever works for you.....

Damn Drewdog....no wonder you have no game. You hang out at Chumps.

My wife is from Dallas and always jokes about that place. I'll admit, the foot isn't bad for a meatmarket.

My wife is also an attorney, so I'll ask about the market. I know the firms that do a lot of bankruptcy are crying for help right now, but I don't know how it is for new associates.

Anywhere Central to South. Any kind of food except Oriental.

Thanks Pole. She wants litigation, she's top 25% at Baylor, and a member of the mock trial team (pretty prestigious).

Cool....my wife's a Baylor alum...although she got her law degree and her masters in tax at Tech....and her MBA at SMU...and her CPA while we were dating. She makes me sick!

Anyway, before she moved down here with me, she was a litigator with DOJ in Dallas. Their only client is the IRS, so that might not appeal to your wife. Anyway, she left around the time the IRS was taking a bunch of lumps, so they didn't replace her position. They've gotten word that they can replace it now, so I know they have a position available. I'll ask my wife about it. She also has several friends at different firms in Dallas right now, but I know the market is pretty tight. Still, I'll ask.

And drewdog....I can't remember if it was a rat foot or a roach foot, but it was crunchy and it went well with the flat beer.

    My wife's response:

As far as firms -- Winstead, Jackson Walker, Gardere & Wynne, Thompson &
Knight, Jenkins & Gilchrist, & Locke Liddell -- are all larger Dallas firms
I really need more info about what they are looking for...

Reataurants -- it depends on casual or fancy.  There are tons of good
    restaurants in Uptown/Crescent  area -- i.e, Breadwinners, Tracy's,
    Rooster, Capital Grile, Palimino

Here are some simply directions for good food in Dallas:

    Get on that loop (6whatver?).

    Take I 45 S

    Follow I 45 about 245 miles

Either stay strait on I 45S or take loop 610W

From there it should be easy :D
