Yep! The first few times I beat Tyson back in the day it was by final decision. Since then, I've been able to beat him by TKO and even KO a couple of times. The trick is to not look directly at him while fighting him. Instead, look off to the side. That way you won't overanticipate and dodge before he punches.
Sadly, I never could. I tried again a few months ago, but couldn't get past Mike. I've always wanted to know what happens after you beat him. That game and Super Mario Bros. 2 are the only two games I've never beaten that I've even played. I still don't know what happens at the end of them both.
Punch Out -- There is a screen with Tyson's face. He says something like: "Great fighting, Mac! I've never seen such finger speed before." SMB2 -- Mario (or whoever) pulls a stone block out of an urn to free these weird sprite things, who thank him. Then it shows Mario in bed asleep as the credits roll. Apparantly, it was all a dream.
man i wish my friend still had punchout so i could try to beat it. that was a very high quality game and rarely got old after the first few guys. i don't remember facing tyson a ton of times, and i know i didn't beat him. i made it through all 3 rounds once, but lost the decision. that not looking directly at him is definitely good advice. man, SMB2, took me forever to beat it simply because i always got lost on 7-2. finally found a nintendo power magazine (old school baby) that had a map of 7-2 and then it wasn't so hard to beat. definitely harder than mario 1 and mario 3 i think, but definitely suckier than 1 and 3 also.
I liked super punchout 2. I was playing once when i was about 12 and some old guy was watching me and everytime the announcer said Bear Hugger, the guy behind me kept saying introducing Bear F***er. I could hardly fight i was laughing so hard so eversince he has been Bear F'er to me.
I only had one game on my Atari... "Space Invaders" that game ate up a lot of my childhood. My dad and I would huddle in front of the TV four hours at a time in heated battles!
i belive the trick to beat Tyson was to hit him once, he blocks, then throws like 10 uppercuts in which u dodge back and forth. Then afterwards he gets tired and u do your thing from there. Its took me a hellva awhile to figure that out. It was AWESOME beating him the first time.
i remember beating tyson i remember a friend buying the game and beating tyson THAT VERY NIGHT! guy was a freaking nintendo wizard!
