This is a question for aelliott or anyone who knows about this cap question.

There has been a reasonable amount of talk about acquiring Robert Horry from the Lakers. Since Horry has a player option to become a free agent, I was wondering if he can be traded or if he has to become a free agent first and then do a sign and trade. I cant remember where I read this, but I remember something along the lines that players who are impending free agents or have player options cannot be traded until they exercise their option, a sign and trade is done, etc.

NBA CBA Article 7, Section 8 item c
A Team cannot trade any player after the NBA trade deadline occurring in the last Season of the player's Contract, or after the NBA trade deadline occurring in any Season that could be the last Season of the player's Contract based upon the exercise or non-exercise of an Option or Early Termination Option.
