this is mc mark's boro, i believe. per capita, seems even more bereft than Laredo. [rquoter]Queens Readers Starving for Bookstores Though Queens is the biggest borough with the most profitable mall in the country, it boasts only five chain bookstores (one of which is the Borders in JFK) and one independent bookstore, forcing many residents to schlep into Manhattan any time they need a new book. "It's pretty extreme how few [bookstores] there are in Queens," Seaburn Books employee Ariadne Reza told the Daily News. Barnes & Noble spokesman David Deason cited tough times for expansion, but Councilman Peter Vallone Jr. has reportedly been reaching out to chains. There hasn't been a bookstore in the 150-storefront Queens Center Mall for 10 years, when good old Walden Books closed down.[/rquoter]
Yeah, but I could pretend to know by googling it and then acting like I know it by posting facts about it.
perhaps you should, you'd have saved yourself the embarrassment of conflating the boro of Queens with New York County.
I guess we can have the same discussion as when El Paso, or whatever West Texas town it was, completely lost all of its bookstores. The internet has books to buy, so I'm not super worried... but yeah it's obvious as we're getting stupider as a society that books aren't exactly the most popular thing in the world, and that shouldn't shock anybody.
What are you talking about? It is about the lack of bookstores in a certain area. How is this not similar to Laredo or the discussion we had about it? Edit: Of course I didn't read *your* commentary, basso. You really think anybody listens to you anymore? Really?
the OP specifically mentions Laredo, and links to that thread. hence your comment: demonstrates a lack of familiarity with the OP.
FIFY. And well-earned, I might add. If you sucked less at posting, I would give you that benefit of the doubt and read your comments. But as it stands, you're such an awful poster that I can't even be bothered to read that single sentence.
This is what the once mighty Bush apologist has been reduced too. sad really Oh wait, no it's NOT! How's that Palin for President campaign working out for ya?
What's this doing in the D&D? I doubt they are starving for bookstores. If there was demand, supply would come.
Books will go the way of snail mail. While still necessary in some cases, people will use them less and less, opting for electronic books/solutions. Not quite sure what you're getting at here. Onoes, chains are taking over from independent bookstores?
