QB/1st string Question: Why play every down?

    I see games that teams are up 45 -10

    Then they trot their QB and 1st stringers out to kneel down the last 2 minutes.
    Why not let the scrubs get some field time doing a kneel down
    or
    the run into the line time?

    Does it have something to do with their contract structures?
    [have to play x% of downs?]
