Heart Failure = Heart Disease? Thats pretty much how most people go when they die of old age right? im not sure
While they have a point, those other things aren't issues of national security. EVERYONE is going to die at some point.
I guess the theoretical way to look at it is that if, as a country, we had spent all the money are spending on Iraq to provide health care or cancer research or whatnot, would the net benefit to the US be higher? From a purely academic perspective, it's an interesting discussion. In reality, not so much probably.
Maybe we should consider these as preventable deaths so we might consider the tradeoffs of spending money on fighting terrorism versus improving public health. One could argue that deaths from terrorism are so low and rare when compared to deaths from heart attacks that we are spending inordinate amounts of money to fight terrorism for little gain vs what we are spending to prevent heart attacks.
