We are suffering big time here. Cato was a stop gap but not the answer and If everyone want to say Steve has no developed can someone explain to me how MO T HAS?????? Mo still don't rebound enough Still soft to an extent and his defense is as suspect as steves I still think the posey trade killed us [WE HAVE PFs OF THE FUTURE IN MO AND ED] wwwoooooo wwwwweeeeeee I'd kill to have KT back about right now!! but alas not use crying of spilled mitchocondria We have a BIG PROBLEM at the 4 stop [Watch AK in Utah use them like toilet paper was sickening .. not saying AK ain't good but d*mn .. he looked like fricking Charles Karl Barkley MAlone out there] Rocket River
What really killed us is the downfall of Eddie Griffin. If he had lived up to his potential then PF would not be an issue right now. It is hard to recover when you give up as much as we gave up for Griffin and are getting nothing in return. Clearly the "forward position" is a huge liability for us, both the small and power forwards. I don't see Posey or Ke. Thomas as the possible answer, (especially at their salaries, particularly Kenny's), but more of bandaids.
No need to knee-jerk. Clearly the 4 is hurting us. EG is the problem. MoT isn't the problem...he is still rounding out into shape and will continue to improve as he gets his legs under him. Even with him at full stregth, we have no depth at that spot...because of EG. Posey is not a 4. His loss has no bearing on this topic.
I don't really think the power forward is our greatest liability at all. We don't need 5 guys on the floor who hafta have the ball and hafta make shots to feel productive. I like Cato & MoT. I like Cato starting. I like when he shoots CLOSE range shots. I even like when he's shooting free throws. I like his big presence on defense, and his aggression on rebounds. He hustles. He shouldn't be expected to take many shots, and likewise he shouldn't expect to take many shots.
Um....Posey was acquired for Kenny Thomas, a power forward, undersized but tough. Hence the bearing on this topic. Mo-T at full strength is serviceable and sometimes very good; if his passing returns, great. As he plays into shape, trying to get his shooting touch back, his passing game has gone out the window, as he has panicked like his teammates. (I use the word "teammates" loosely. The Rockets seldom seem to notice each other on the floor.)
I'd love to have Ke Thomas right now. At the time I thought Posey for KT was reasonable given the log jam at PF, but Heypartner was spot on we made a terrible move and KT was by far the best of the 3. I'd still like to have Posey too, but KT more for sure.
I would love to have KT now too, but only if we could give up Mo's salary at the same time. But "no thanks" to KT and Mo at BOTH the salaries they are making now!
