Not much else yet; suspect in custody. Canines picked up scent.

Also, radiation found on ship by Jersey.

Not to make light of the situation, but I'm just wondering whether these are just everyday ordinary occurrences. Because today is 9/11 and networks are running continuous news coverage, it seems to me like every little thing is being covered in great detail.

If they aren't everyday occurrences, then we aren't f-ing around with the potential threats here. If this is a bunch of anniversary-related stuff we're getting bombarded with by idiots of all walks, then we're WAY more prepared for stuff like this nationally than we ever were, because we're busting all of it before it happens this time around.

Here's a link to the ship story in NJ and some other stuff as well.

The building in Ohio is the State Supreme Court Bldg and apparently there was a van parked behind it in which some dogs smelled explosives. They supposedly arrested the guy who parked it there according to MSNBC

I am pretty nervous since I am about 1 mile from there. I think I will be leaving early.

I have to say that I totally agree with this statement.
I feel that the media is anticipating something/anything to "break a story" today.

Hell, if I was a terrorist, I wouldnt do anything today anyway. I'd wait until tomorrow when the paranoid people have breathed a sigh of relief.

God forbid that happens, of course.

The media sucks. Hence I have 3 DVDs waiting for me when I get home from work.

If I was a terrorist and really wanted to strike fear in the hearts of people, I wouldn't go for NY or the golden gate bridge or anything. I would go to middle America and hit Shopping Malls or public places where common people go. That way it woudn't be a matter of staying away from certain symbols of America. I think more people at large would feel the terror, and it would look like there would be no where to hide.

I feel gross thinking about it, but it's something to be on guard for. Man, I really hate terrorists.

I totally agree with FranchisBlade. Although I felt morbid for even thinking about it, I was wondering what types of places a terrorist could target that might really scare Americans. If they hit shopping malls, restaraunts, theatres, or churches, then everyone would constantly be looking over their shoulders, not just if they're in a plane or a high-rise. Man, I hope it never comes to that.

People in middle America are packing heat. They WOULD have to be suicidal to do that. As we now know, they couldn't even get 20 dedicated suicide seekers to get on those planes.

You too, Osama, if ya **** with me
The UN is gonna hafta come and get me
Off yo ass, that's how I'm goin out
For the punk mother****ers that's showin out
Jihadmen start to mumble, they wanna rumble
Mix em and cook em in a pot like gumbo...

Maybe it was just a misprint, it should have read "Potential COMB in Ohio"

    Nice rhymin' Hayes!

I think it would be great if we recover Osama's dead body, give him a Christian funeral and bury him wrapped in an American flag. No offense against Muslims. I just thought it to be the ultimate punishment for us mortals to give him.

    Dogs smell explosives; office evacuated
    September 11, 2002 Posted: 5:30 PM EDT (2130 GMT)

James A. Rhodes State Office Tower
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
COLUMBUS, Ohio (CNN) -- Authorities evacuated a 41-story state office building Wednesday after a suspicious man told a worker he was "here to install a bomb," officials said.

A worker on the 28th floor of the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in downtown Columbus confronted the man who appeared to be out of place, said Ohio State Highway Patrol spokesman Lt. Col. Paul McClellan.

"He was an unusual person on the floor. She knew he did not belong there," McClellan said.

When she asked what the man was doing, McClellan said he replied, "I'm here to install a bomb." State troopers apprehended the man and found his vehicle at the building's loading dock.

Authorities ordered the evacuation after a bomb-sniffing dog alerted to the smell of explosives in the vehicle three times.

Another dog, belonging to the federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms, also alerted to the presence of explosives, McClellan said.

McClellan said no explosives were found.

Lt. Gov. Maureen O'Connor, who is in charge of the Ohio Security Task Force, said the man was a Mexican national employed by a window treatment company that was doing some work in the building.

She said she believes he is an illegal immigrant and as far as she could determine did not have a criminal record.

McClellan said authorities conducted a thorough sweep of the 28th through 30th floors of the building.

The suspect was in custody but had not been charged, McClellan said.

About 4,000 state employees work at the building, which houses the Ohio Supreme Court and other government offices. The building is across the street from the Ohio Statehouse, or capitol building. Born said the Statehouse was not evacuated.

CNN Homeland Security Correspondent Jeanne Meserve contributed to this report.

I heard that the worker said to him, "Don't I know you from somewhere."

He said in reply, "Have you seen the movie La Bamba?"

I'm surprised no one has pointed out the progress this story indicates: I had no idea Ohio had 40-story buildings yet. Way to go, guys.

Columbus is secure, one less blind installer (or blind cleaner or whatever he eas doing to the blinds)

Also I wonder how they will ship him back to Mexico, in a car or a plane. Oh well he'll be deported very quickly.
