The Rockets played tough against a young, veteran team that went to at least the second round of the playoffs last year and is on the rise. They outrebounded the big lineup of Campbell, Lynch, Nailon, TJ? Brown and Baron Davis, supplemnted by Maglore? and Augmon. They did this without Steve. KT, Eddie and Cato all had more than 10 rebounds.

Eddie's defense and rebounding was very impressive in this back to back effort by the 19 yr old. He could be coming out of his shooting slump.

Cato, still the defensive effort and rebounding. Scoring down without the dishes from Steve.

KT is passing much more than his detractors give him credit for. 4 assist and 4 turnovers. Several to's were when he wss trying to make difficult passes. He is smart and his game keeps growing. As he often does, he held his own on the boards against taller players with more established reps.

Cuttino, was very effective and less flamboyant, something that should please his detractors.

Moochie showed why we kept him instead of Drew. He contiued his pattern of gradually cutting down on his overdribbing. He is one of the best backup points in the league.

A great effort-- even on the last defensive stand where they busted Charlotte's play and were just unable to come up with the ball when it was loose. In some ways the perfect game for the future. Five young guys from our probable future rotation gaining playing time together, sticking with the never say die effort that Rudy's team exhibit and another loss without tanking or looking overmatched. We should be proud of them and happy for the future.

Glynch, nice post. It's refreshing to see a non-bash. You are absolutly right about the effort. The Rocks are amidst a nightmere season but yet still play hard every night. Sure they make mistakes but it isn't because of lack of effort. Something I haven't heard around here much at all.

The Rocks did what they needed to win this game. Just unlucky that the broken play in the end resulted in a open shot (EG still got a hand in his face).

But, that doesn't disappoint me too much. If they can keep the solid play up the rest of the season without breaking their backs and still lose, then we get a good pick. ;)

I personally am very proud of this team. Rudy has his guys playing with alot of heart and desire. With so many hits this team has taken this year you might think they would play uninspiring basketball, but that's just not the case. Night in and night out this team brings everthing it has to try to win a basketball game, and for that I am grateful. GO ROCKETS!! :)

It's like you took the words right out of my mouth!

Lynus warned me about you (something about you not getting along with him and treeman, mostly in the hangout I think). But I think he'd agree with you on this one!

Glad we see eye to eye on some things!

No matter if a team wins or has superstars, consistantly strong effort from the team will bring the fans to the arena and get a town behind their hometown club.

And, with consistantly strong effort - even without the stars - a team is going to win some ballgames.

The Rockets are about to turn a corner. Get through the strong part of the schedule coming up here soon and then things should look a lot clearer.

Assuming, of course, the effort remains there and tank city doesn't show up. Perhaps it's Cato - his "leadership" in the effort department may determine where this team goes. We'll see.

 Thanks, for props. Now my head will get big, and I'll become a Rockets basher. J/k

I think one good thing about the Charlotte game is that after fighting back to get in the game, their defense(while not consistent all together) was more consistent than many previous nights. I also think that's the biggest thing they can do to improve. Considering Steve was out for that one, they did a pretty good job, and showed a lot of heart.

I have to agree with the posters that said they did the right things this game. If they keep doing that, things will start to roll their way. This was the second game in a row, that the team seemed to focus more on passing. There were lapses no doubt, but it looked like, for the most part, the intent to pass out of trouble spots was there.
