    You know the guy who answers his cell phone NO MATTER where he is by blurting out his name...

    As in, the phone rings and he says, "John Smith..." and not, "hello" first.

    Here's the poll, is this Arrogance? or efficiency?

    I find it most annoying. :mad:

    If I'm calling you, I know your name.


    If I don't know you, and I'm standing at a counter at the movies (for example), and you get a call... I don't need to know your name. :mad:

    Somebody with a cool name is obligated to answer with just his name just to remind everybody how much their name sucks compared to his. Could you imagine the 'tang you'd get every day if you answered the phone "Max Power"? I might try that one day...

    If its at work, I'll say my name because a lot of the time I get calls from people I haven't met yet. Also, that seems to be standard procedure as everyone I work with does that as well. (It did take a while to get used to considering I've always just said "hello")

    Outside of work, its just a "hello" because you probably should know me if you are calling me.

    I have a friend who uses his cell for both business and for personal use. Anytime he doesn't know who it is calling him, he'll answer with his name, first and last. I don't really have a problem with it. If you're calling him at least you know right away if you have the person you were looking for.

    I don't say hello first when I answer the phone. When I answer the phone I just say "Yeah?"

    If I don't recognize who it is calling me, I just don't answer it. If it's important, they'll leave a message. If not, f**k off.

    You know what I really hate... When you're at the drive thru window and they're like "how you doin?"

    They don't care how i'm doin, its a standard greeting I know, but it's simply pointless and makes me utter an akward "uh I'm good" then there is that long like 5 second pause where you don't know if you're supposed to wait for them to say "May I take your order" or just tell them right out. Why not just say "Hi Welcome to Burgerplace may I take your order?" in the first place?

    IT ****ING INFURIATES ME.

    That's when you say "I'm doing great sir"...and then jump into the "I'll take the Number one..."

    Not everything has to be so awkward. Sheesh.
