Sorry if there is another thread about this. Astors game was on FX last night, followed by a premier of the series "Over There" about the war in Iraq. I watched a little bit of it. Wow. Graphic. One scene I saw, a guy fires some sort of rocket launcher at an insurgent running towards him. The rocket disentegrates the guy's upper torso, his legs run a couple more steps after the hit, then falls backward. I noticed on the guide, there was another episode right after the one after the game. Anyone catch any of it? Thoughts?
The season is still going on, about 10 episodes in I think. I saw the first 5 episodes and since I've started my new job I haven't watched much TV, but I do have them DVR'd so when I get a chance. It is a great show and isn't all that politically charged. It is more about how the individual stories of the soldiers in the squad and how the war affects them and their lives, psychological and personal. It's an FX series so it is pretty edgy at times and "far out there" (as in some of the war stuff and tactics are obvious bs) and has some "sexiness" to it... but overall I think it is great, however I love history and war and such so I was drawn in just from the concept.
I've watched every episode, and if there is one word to describe the series, it is this: depressing. This show is murphy's law: anything that can go wrong will go wrong and at the worst possible time.
I agree, me and the wife have watched the whole thing and, while we enjoy it alot, it isn't a feel good show
I watched the first four or five episodes, and stopped watching for this reason. I never came out of the show either a) happy or b) intrigued. I always came out of it feeling depressed or annoyed. I can find enough other things in my life that make me feel this way, and I don't need tv helping.
War is fascinating... I'm a huge WWII buff... obviously I wish war didn't happen, but it can be both man at his finest and his worst.
