I was reading about this $1B upgrade to the airport but after dating a girl who lost her airline job after the continental-united merger, I was wanting some other members input on whether this will create new jobs, just modify exisiting ones and will it even bring a significant amount of new tourists and visitors who will spend their money in our city and boost our economy? http://www.chron.com/business/article/1-billion-terminal-expansion-at-Bush-airport-is-2078855.php
The last time I was at the airport (probably 5 years ago), it looked like it was stuck in the 80's. It'd be nice to see it more on par with other airports I've been to (although, admittedly, I haven't been to a ton).
It would be great to see the rest of the airport look like terminals E and C which are among the best in the country It was recently ranked the best airport in America
Last time I was in Hobby, Buffalo Wild Wings had set up beer stands in the terminal. That's how you make a great airport. I hate Bush Airport.
I've never had a bad experience there. I'm just saying that the vibe it gives off to me (and others I've heard from, that are not from Houston), is like an 80's vibe. Granted, I've only been in probably two of the terminals.
I'm all for it but I've been in the industry 25+ years. Compared to around the country, Houstonians should be proud of IAH & HOU.
In the process, please remove that gaudy LED light thingy at the entrance. I called it the Clark W. Griswold memorial sculpture.
I was there in August as well, the Pappasitos (although just in the foodcourt) has a full bar I believe as well as grab-n-go margaritas.
I hadn't been to Hobby since June, but I just checked the BW3 website, and they're still listing the Hobby location as open. I think the beer stands were a Friday thing.
Hmmm, never had a problem finding food or alcohol (not necessarily in that order...) at either one of our airports. Seems like every time I'm at IAH, there is construction everywhere and you have to walk through a 5 mile maze to get to customs. Not much fun at 4 in the morning with a hangover.
maybe it was temporary construction, but the staff said there was nothing else other than a crappy stand with a cooler and rack of snacks. It was a Tuesday.
