One thing that I automatically thought when the dorky guy revealed Chicago as the #2 pick...Media Attention! Media Attention! As I jumped up and down today with a heartbeat surpassing anything I have ever felt, it hit me. We not only have the chance to make our team dramatically better with this pick, but every NBA website, the NBA sections of every newspaper, every NBA analyst on ESPN, TNT, ect., and everything even remotely related to the draft will concentrate on the Rocket's numero uno pick. This will be a very exciting ride. So much for the boring offseason!! Stevie Francis, the lucky charm.
Furthermore, if we pick Ming, can you imagine the attention once the season starts? He's not your average top pick. Virtually an entire country will be watching all of our games, hopefully becoming Rockets fans. Hundreds and thousands of Chinese writers, etc. will move to Houston to follow Ming's every move. Every sports fan will tune in to see the Rockets just to see what this phenomenon is all about. If we do pick Ming, it's going to be crazy next season...
I sense some sellouts this upcoming season. I just hope the Rockets arent dumb enough to raise season tix prices if we do draft Ming.
Absolutely, Cat. If we pick Ming the media attention will be priceless... we will be in the spotlight all over the world! If he is good at all, the Rockets will be featured on the tube all the time. Can't wait to see what we end up doing. He'd have to work out for us now!
HELL YEAH!!!! NBC, ABC, ESPN, TBS, TNT, HERE WE COME BABY!!!! Feels good to be a Houston fan right now. And a good thing is that now that I live in Chicago, I'll be able to watch lots of Houston games via these big time channels plus Chicago got the no.2 pick. YESSSSSSSSSSSSSS
