Well, I'm using a computer at the library, and the scroll wheel on my mouse is DEFINITELY something that I don't know how much I miss until I don't have it. My middle finger keeps moving back and forth, desperately looking for the scroll wheel. It's like a reflex. Having to move the pointer ALL THE WAY to the edge of the screen and actually MOVE THE MOUSE to scroll down the page is terrible... This library is seriously going to have to update this archaic equipment...Do they think this is 1998 or something? Next thing you know, I'll have to use floppy disks. :::shudder:::
I am in the same boat, but at home, my other mouse messed up so i am using an old one that has no scroll, i got used to it after awhile though.
Same problem here too. Whenever i use the computers in our library i am constantly trying to use the wheel that isnt there. Its even more annoying that trying to push the clutch that isnt there whenever i drive a car with an auto.
i also hate it when i have to use a mouse without a scroll wheel, i also hate to go without my mouse that has the forward and back button on the sides
Some retarted drunk came up to me at work a few weeks ago and started asking me wierd questions like what does the F5 button do?, what does the usb do, what does the big white button on the rectangle do(the space bar).. well I was patient and answered most of his questions, but then a co worker stepped in, he was asked what does the scroll wheel do, and my co worker replied, " think of it as the **** for losers who dont get non, you move it up and down, and when watching pornographic videos it causes erotic feelings in your body"... that got rid of the man, but I get that funny feeling everytime a scroll wheel is mentioed...
I don't have those, but I can relate as I use mouse gestures (with Opera) while browsing. So I can quickly get back and forward with the mouse.
i used to never use the scroll wheel. it was just unnatural and i liked the bar on the side of the window or the arrow pad, but now i'm addicted to the scroll wheel. even when i could go much quicker with the bar on the side of the window i'll still use the scroll wheel all the way down the page.
You should be able to scroll pretty fast by clicking the scroll wheel and moving the mouse up or down. The only time the bar on the side is useful is when reading a really long document.
Now that's just over the top. I can understand the forward and backward buttons on a mouse, but come on! If they're just going to make buttons RIGHT BY the scroll wheel, WHY EVEN HAVE IT??? Just make the buttons take the place of the darn wheel!
A good one? I like the Logitech MX Duo. It's a wireless mouse/keyboard combo. The mouse (MX700) looks like the one on the right, but lacks Bluetooth. The combo is $80 at Staples this week, and there is a $20 mail in rebate. I play games and surf with the mouse - love the feel.
Because you can hold the button down for a second and blaze through a document without excessive scrolling (which sucks more than moving the mouse over to the sidebar and dragging up or down). It may not sound like much, but being able to jump quickly through a large document is another one of those things that you get used to.
