Does anyone know if that pick is DUE next year or if they have a few more years to give it up. The reason I ask is people keep talking about how our pick from detroit next year could be in the lottery in an amazing draft. While I agree about the draft (I think this will be one of the best drafts in the history of the NBA (Curry, That 7-1 guy in highschool they are calling the second Oscar Robertson, Terrance MOrris, Woods, Gadzuric, Wallace, Griffin, Williams, Rice, and many many more) I thought that the pick still had an option for a few years....if it does there is NO WAY they give up this pick to us next year. NO way! If it is due next year....we could be sitting pretty because I think Hill is going to leave and they will suck and to get a lottery pick next year will be money!!!!

stevie, I am wondering the same thing. I also have one question to add. Does the pick have to be Detroit's own or can they acquire it from another team?

Detroit has two drafts left to give it to us and it has to be their own first rounder. I believe Detroit will regret not giving us the pick this year. They basically decided that they wanted Mateen Cleaves more than they wanted a top 5 or 10 pick in the next two years. It would be great if they suck for the next two years and then we get a top lottery pick so we can take a center or small forward.
