    Jane's Says New Album
    February 13, 2 p.m. ET, RollingStone.com

Most bands cut a record, release it and then go on tour. But not Jane's Addiction: Following a successful string of live shows last fall, the band is talking seriously about putting
together the long-awaited follow-up to 1990's Ritual de lo Habitual.

According to guitarist Dave Navarro, the band -- which also includes singer Perry Farrell, drummer Stephen Perkins and new bassist Martyn LeNoble -- recognizes the need for a fresh record. "We love playing together, and we play great shows,"
he says, "but if we're ever going to do that again we know that we need some new material. I don't think we want to stop playing, but we do want to stop playing the same repertoire."

Navarro's comments echo what Perkins told Jane's fans in a recent Web chat. "David, Perry and I have come to the point now where communication and the friendships are there, and the next step would be getting together to write new songs," Perkins wrote. "I've got a trip planned throughout February, and when that concludes, we're gonna get together with Martyn and have some fun in the studio."

Meanwhile, Navarro continues to work on a second solo album to follow-up Trust No One, released last summer. "Some writing is already done," he says. "I don't like to go into the studio when everything isn't ready. I've done that, and it
    doesn't work out so well."

I like Jane's Addiction and would love to hear some new stuff...it's gonna be hard to top 'Ritual de lo Habitual' though.

    HEY...we'd make great pets!

I have to wonder if they will be the same as old. Avery was the heart of that band. SOme people thing Navarro was but all the songs revolved around the bass what it was doing. Now take away Avery and insert this new guy, its going to make a diffrence.

I would love a new Janes album, but I would want Avery to be apart of it. thats what made me fall in love with Janes was his bass. Just listen to mountain song, Aint no right, or then she did. they are all bass led songs. I just hope the new bass player can match Avery. Or something can be worked out with Avery

Avery has gone on record many times and said that he basically has no interest in playing with Jane's Addiction ever again. He seems to be somewhat of a hermit and I think the high or semi-high profile nature of Jane's makes him uncomfortable.

Perry's voice is pretty much shot now so I'm not that excited anyways. I'd rather see Dave Navarro and Stephen Perkins hook up with another songwriter who needs their particualr mojo.

Then again, the reuinion of any great band would be a nice change from all the rap metal crybabies that seem to be dominating right now.
