I was never a big fan growing up but I did gain an appreciation for her music as I got older.... I'll give this a watch because I like Christian Serratos but I think she's a tad on the thin side....
For a long time I thought Jennifer Lopez was Selena because of that movie in the 90s.. JLo did a VERY good job, even released some Selena cover music from the movie as actual music videos .. but that's no excuse. Forgive me. Spoiler I also thought Angela Bassett was Tina Turner and Michael Jackson's real mom at the same time because of some 90's movies.
you dont have to be a selena fan to enjoy this movie. its just a good story, plus im a fan of movies/documentaries about real-life musicians, like walk hard, for example.
back when La Tapitia on Richmond was small with a popular jukebox, Selena was played non-stop. I remember the waiters rolling their eyes everytime a patron pushed the Bidi Bidi Bom Bom button, again. you didn't know Selena was dead?
They should do the real part of her life becoming a star up to her fatal encounter but, instead of the fatal encounter, change the outcome to where she lives and pick up as if it never ended that way going into how her life might have turned out had she lived. Basically, a transition from non-fiction to fiction.
Oh man, I remember that, many a late night burrito and torta (and dos XX in a red plastic tea glass) was consumed to the soothing sounds of Selena Did anyone ever see Ritchie Valens and Lou Diamond Phillips in the same room?
I was old enough to know Batman wasn't a documentary and Cinema was filled with propaganda telling me there were no Black Cowboys.
You never watched Silverado? Or Unforgiven? Buck and the Preacher? (Sidney Poitier, not me). But you are absolutely correct. There's a lot of good stories that haven't been told.
