In houston the movie would get to netflix the next day and they would ship it off later that same day I would get it the day after.

In austin it takes 2 days to get them the movie. Does anyone know what post office their PO box is located in? Does anyone else have this same problem?

Switch to Blockbuster online -- you take it back to the store and get another from the store and they scan it into the online part as returned and a new one gets sent in the mail.

ehhh. I like Netflix though. I want to support the company. Blockbuster is such the conglomerate. I think Netflix just started to turn a profit.

when netflix first started, it usually took 1 day to get a movie in Austin. I think they got rid of some of their distribution centers.

Screw blockbuster. You don't need movies every day. The Rockets play a few days a week. And baseball season is coming up. Not to mention, MARCH MADNESS.

Blockbuster has a free month trial right now. 3 dvds out, plus the All Access Pass where you can return dvd's in store, and exchange for a new one.
Also what is unique is that when the Blockbuster employee scans your barcode in of the dvd you are returning, it tells the online system to send out the next movie.

So thus you can possibly watch twice as many dvd's as opposed to Netflix...assuming you had the time.

Its a really good deal, as they also give you one free video game rental coupon a month as well.

I think Blockbuster is scaring the hell out of Netflix right about now.

That being said Blockbuster is the devil for years and years of the scamming late charge. Now they have no late charge. They finally were made to make a change in that policy. Competition is good.

Out of curiosity, Brando, how long had you had Netflix when you moved out of Houston?

I've had it for about a year now...maybe a little less. When I first started, it took 1 day to ship to me, pretty much clockwork. But I haven't moved and here lately the ship times have been increasing. It wouldn't bother me quite as much if they didn't still send the emails saying it should be arriving on a particular day, and then it gets there 2-3 days later.

I also don't want to support Blockbuster - they stole enough of my money over the years.

With Netflix in Houston, I stagger my returns and have no problems. I change it up, but usually have at least 3 at a time. I also rent twice as many TV shows (Shield, Rescue Me, Scrubs, etc) than I do movies.

you guys might want to look up throttling. it usually happens to customers who have 3 movies out.

I have experienced a send one in-->next morning received/shipped-->next day new one arrives regularity (in mail Mon-->new one Wed) throughout, with the occasional extra day tossed in. That's regardless of if I've got 3 or 7 at a time. On the flipside, I'm not a very high volume renter - I average probably around 10-15 a month. I'm not out to get all I can just because I can. Used to be, renting 5 movies at the store was $25 (I have no idea what it is now and I'm happy about that). I'm much happier with getting 3 times the movies and 40 times the selection at that same price.
