So the other day, for no reason I can really put a finger on, I got a hankering to listen to some Jackyl. I'm not a huge Jackyl fan, and have only owned one, maybe two, of their albums over the course of my life, but I just wanted to jam out to "Dumbass Country Boy", "Cut the Crap" and "The Lumberjack" in the worst way.

Jackyl is not a band you would ever catch me defending as anything spectacular in the music industry. I swear half their songs have a freaking chainsaw solo in them. A CHAINSAW SOLO. Half of me says that is awesome, the other half thinks that is ridiculous. But despite those mixed feelings, on occasion, I get an itch that only "quality" redneck, hillbilly mullet-wearing, chainsaw-wielding, chaw-chewing, backwoods southern rock can scratch.

I call these types of bands Junk Food Bands. Music you would never listen to on a regular rotation, but you have it for those occasions when nothing else will do. Another example of this, for me, is probably Ugly Kid Joe.

What are some of the bands you listen to that would qualify?
