Multimeters?

    Any electricians or anyone else have any knowledge on multimeters? I'd like to get one that can test a wide range of batteries from watch sized to car batteries.


    I wont rule out the higher end models- seems like they're all over Craigslist.

    How do you want to test the batteries? A Multimeter is not really a battery tester.

    You could get one that can datalog and then run a load on the battery with respect to voltage I guess.

    A Fluke that can datalog is gonna run you though.

    If you only want a battery tester I think you should look elsewhere for task specific solutions.

    I wouldn't mind getting more utility out of any tool I buy. I also prefer quality for durability and longevity. (yeah TWSS)

    I'm seeing tons of Fluke stuff on Craigslist btw.

    A good digital multimeter is fine to have for many reasons so if you get a good deal on a used Fluke that is great.

    My question is, the purpose you are talking about is hard to fufill (test battery of any size shape and chemistry). You can use a dmm to get the open voltage of any battery but that won't really test it. If I were in your shoes I would get the dmm then decide which batteries I really need to test then get a specific tool for that. Which batteries are you using that you need to test?
