    Rocks Recovered
    Posted: 5:47 p.m. CDT July 22, 2002

HOUSTON -- Four people were charged with stealing samples of historic Apollo mission moon rocks and meteorites from Johnson Space Center.
Three of the suspects were college student interns at J.S.C.

Undercover FBI agents arrested Thad Ryan Roberts, 25, Tiffany Brooke Fowler, 22, and Gordon Sean McWorter, 26, Saturday in Orlando, Fla.

They were charged with conspiracy to commit the theft of government property and transportation in interstate commerce of stolen property.

Shae Lynn Saur, 19, was also charged with conspiracy and theft of government property.

The Lamar University student from Beaumont appeared in a downtown Houston courtroom Monday after turning herself in.

She was working as a summer intern at J.S.C., officials aid.

On July 15, a safe containing lunar samples from every Apollo mission was discovered missing from J.S.C.

"A cabinet of some sort was removed from the center that contained lunar rocks," said Bob Doguim, Houston FBI spokesman.

J.S.C. officials said the cabinet weighed about 600 pounds.

The rocks were valued at $300,000.

The case was cracked in Florida when a tip came in saying that people were advertising moon rocks for sale over the Internet.

A meeting was set up in Orlando to "finalize" the purchase, officials said.

An e-mail address led agents to the suspects.

    The rocks were recovered.

It was only Lamar U... ;)

Besides how far were they to go in life when all 4 (assuming they were sober at some point) thought it was a good idea to steal 600lbs of rocks from a government safe cabinet and sell them on ebay.
