Kevin Millwood pitches no hit, no run game! ESPN broke into the NFL Draft to play the final inning! Way to go Kevin!
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/boxscore?gameId=230427122 I watched the final 2 innings after I saw the SC alert. The Braves must be kicking themselves. Have fun with Johnny Estrada.
I caught the end, I love seeing stuff like this. Stupid Braves, I can't see why they would trade for Hampton, even if he could get it together, he wouldn't be worth what they pay him, Paul Byrd sucked as a Brave, and Russ Ortiz isn't that good. They should have extended Millwood first. Oh well, too bad we didn't go out and get a guy like that, Kent is good, but I'd take solid pitching before offense any day.

They should have extended Millwood first. Through some creative financing (and the stupidity of Florida), I think they managed to get Hampton, Ortiz, and Byrd combined for less money than Millwood makes.
The Braves are only paying a portion of that outrageous contract. Florida, and I think Colorado, are picking up the rest.
I'm not an expert when it comes to baseball, but when someone pitches a no-hitter doesn't that mean they pitch a no-run game? I'm not trying to be a smart ass, but has there ever been a run given up when there are no hits? Like, 4 walks in a row?
Yeah, I wanna say an Astros' pitcher from way back actually lost a game in which they pitched a no-hitter.
I'm no expert on baseball either (I'm British), but there are several ways this could happen (an error, stolen bases), and of course a run could be batted in by a sac fly, which wouldn't count as a hit either.
Ken Johnson of the Astros lost a no hitter 1-0. Ken Johnson made major league history in a bittersweet fashion, becoming the first pitcher to ever throw a no-hitter and lose. Joe Nuxhall was pitching brilliantly for the Reds, and kept the game tied at 0-0 through eight inning. With one out in the 9th, Pete Rose tried to bunt for a base hit and reached second when Johnson made a bad throw to first. After Rose advanced to third on a ground out, second baseman Nellie Fox bobbled an easy grounder ad allowing Rose to score. Nuxhall pitched a scoreless ninth to give the Reds an historic 1-0 victory.
I completely forgot about the Braves only paying a portion of his contract. If Hampton does come back, I guess it'll be one hell of a move.
I believe Daryl Kile (RIP )pitched a no hitter back in 92 or 93 against the Mets. I think the mets scored a run on a wild pitch or something along those lines
I saw it on MLB webpage when they were in the 8th and didnt figure to check ESPN to see if they were showing it. Wow. He completed it with no hits. wow wow wow.
ok so my memory was right and yet somehow as i scan a list of every no hitter score in history (can't remember which site i was looking on) i don't find the one that ended 4-0 for the other team. i swear, i have to be the worst person in history when looking for something right in front of me. well good to know i remembered it right.
Well, yes and no. It was considered a no hitter from the time it happened (July 1st, 1990) till September, 1991. That's when an 8 man baseball committee decided, for statistical accuracy, that all no hitters must have been 9 innings long or longer, and ended with one team getting no hits at all. For example, Harvey Haddix's famous 12 inning perfect game was eliminated because he gave up a hit in the 13th. And for this reason, Andy Hawkins no hitter was also eliminated since he was pitching for the visiting team and the home team was winning, there was no need for him to pitch the ninth inning. So his 8 inning, 4-0 loss, was wiped out as a no hitter.
