McHale is pretty much a mediocre coach

He has not won much as a coach.

Nobody knows his coaching philosophy. Offensive mind? defensive mind? players coach? Maximize players ability?

I am not sure he knows himself.

The best Rocket coachs for the past 10 years are JVG and Adelman.

JVG is pretty much a defensive-minded coach. His team ranks consistently high on the defensive front.

Rick Adelman is surely not a defensive coach, but he knows offensive XOs, and he seems to know how to maximize players ability, but sooner or later, his team will decline as players get lazy, do not want to play defense anymore, and the team ends up losing games.

But I do not want to blame McHale, he knows that he is a transitional coach.
