This is an exceptionally poor move from McCain. It not only throws the door open (and, really, off the hinges) wrt talking about how profoundly he's flip-flopped on the most profound issues, and for political purposes -- it veritably forces the Obama campaign to hammer him on it.

It was already clear to me that McCain preferred talking character to talking issues, but I had no idea how much. It seems he'd rather have a conversation about the flimsiness of his own principles than the economy. So be it. He'll get one now.

Bad move on McCain's part..He is going to make himself look really bad, by his ow words.I like the video he posted from the dems, but his own words negate anything they have said about him in the past.

 

The DNC response ad features the same Dems from the McCain ad making the point that he used to be a maverick, but is now a "maverick no more."

Ooohhh... You got me... I have a ****ty internet connection so sometimes I post things twice. That obviously proves everything I ever say wrong and everything you ever say (plagiarized as per usual or not as per very rarely) right. Also, yes, I use profane language sometimes like 99% of the world. I don't, however, sink to the level of saying anyone here wants people to die or is a traitor to their country like you love to do. I would never post anything here as offensive as that.

McCain is INSANE to bring up his "maverick" status from 8 years gone. All it serves to do now is shine a light on what a hypocrite he's been ever since.

The Dem response was pretty good, but it really should have included McCain's appearance on Fox where he said he'd voted with Bush more than 90% of the time. Some maverick.

 

Seriously, if you knew much about politics, you'd know that there are a very large number of bills that are non-controversial. If you were to look at just the 'hot-button' issues, this stat would be much lower. Heck, I bet Obama votes alongside Bush a fair amount -- oopsie, his 140 days in office aren't quite a representative sample...

Who voted for the Bush/Cheney energy bill? McCain or Obama? Oh yes, it was Obama.

I ****ing love the way that the worst insult either side can hurl is to compare his opponent to Bush. Poor George.

 

I'm not surprised a lot of Democrats like McCain. They just happen to like Obama more.

 

Pesonally I think this is most substantive criticism of Obama I've seen in about two weeks. I think this is an important question regarding why Obama voted for the energy bill as compared to whether his birth certificate is faked.

 

A lot of Democrats liked McCain. That was before he sold out on tax cuts for the filthy rich, immigration, torture and "the agents of intolerance" and hired the protege of the same guy that killed his own 2000 campaign with slanderous lies to throw the exact same stuff at Obama.

The McCain that Democrats (and Independents) liked has nothing in common with the one that's running this time around. McCain 2000 wouldn't even shake the hand of McCain 2008.
