Police said a second woman's body was found a few hours later Monday, crammed in the trunk of a car in a southwest Houston impound lot. Houston police are searching for a man believed to have been living in the town home in the 9800 block of United where the first victim was found about 3:40 p.m. Police said the man is not a suspect but is wanted for questioning. Police did not identify the victims, but family members said the apartment was rented by Arianna Trivette Mingo, 35, who lived there with her 12- and 14-year-old sons. Tanyanika Berry, 34, and her boyfriend had been staying with Mingo recently after Berry had been evicted from her apartment, said Theresa Daniels, Mingo's mother. "My daughter was always an open-minded person and, whenever someone needed some place to stay, she would let them stay with her," Daniels said. Mingo's sons had not seen her since Friday, and the family reported her missing Monday morning. When Daniels arrived at the apartment Monday afternoon, she spoke to a neighbor, who told her that she had seen a car last weekend backed up to the back patio of Mingo's apartment. "Something told me to look in the closet, and then we noticed that it smelled pretty bad over there," Daniels said. While the closet was locked, Daniels' grandsons grabbed a hammer and broke open the lock. Inside the closet, the family found the body of a woman Daniels believes to be Berry. A few hours later, at about 6 p.m., police received a call that the body of another woman was discovered in a car at a nearby impound lot. Daniels and her husband, Jerry, were hoping the woman was not their daughter. "It might be her," Jerry Daniels said. "You see this all the time on the news, and you don't think of it happening to your daughter." The investigation was ongoing and police were searching for Berry's boyfriend.
