I was watching the Mavs-Kings game tonight and they mentioned that the Maloof Brothers, the owner of the Kings, used to own the Rockets at one time. Actually it was their father. Interesting to know. I thought it was Charlie Thomas but apparently in 1981 Maloof owned them.

Yes, one of those Maloofs used to own the Rockets. Charlie Thomas got in at just the right time, so to speak.

So...the surest way to get the Rockets back to the NBA finals is for Les to sell the team! ;)

The Charlie Thomas syndicate did not purchase the Rockets until 1984, and sold to Les Alexander in 1993. The Maloof family had the Rockets in the '70's, for a short time. This information is in the media guide....

Interesting thread title. I'd have used "Maloof Brothers Father...". Anyway, George Maloof owned the Rockets for a while. As a matter of fact, I got a personal phone call from one of the Maloof brothers back then asking about renewing my Rockets season tickets.
