    Finally popped the question to my girlfriend of 14 months this weekend. After much deliberation ;) , she said yes. Not sure if she knows what she's getting into...

    Any words of wisdom (minus the predictable "don't do it!!!" posts) to a soon-to-be newlywed from some of you married clutchfans? I can use all the advice I can get.

    Even the simplest of weddings becomes quite the event. Make sure you pay attention to what's going on, even though she'll probably plan/decide most of what's going on. You don't want to realize you might have wanted something to work out a little differently for the ceremony when it's much too late to really do anything about it.

    I got married less than a month ago. You'll have a great time.

    Congrats man! Been married for about 7 years now and the best advice i can give you is not to sweat the small things in the relationship. Don't let small things ballon into large issues for no reason. Comprimise is the name of the game.

    Marriage is a partnership.

    Take the responsibility to manage the finances and let her manage the house. Or swap, depending on who is better at each. My point is that 1 person shouldn't manage it all.

    Always set aside time to be together alone, even after you have lots of kids.

    When she is bothered by something, do not offer solutions. Just listen and care for her.

    Love her everyday. Never forget this moment. Dedicate your life to your marriage.
