Longest you've gone without a drink?

    I hadn't had a drop of alcohol for 5 years. No I didn't have a problem, nothing bad happened, no DWI anything like that.

    Alcoholism ran on my dads side of the family, I was always afraid it would get me, so I wanted to break the cycle so I quit.

    So starting in January, after over two years of my fiancé bugging me, I share a bottle of wine with her. Glad I did. Always enjoyed good wine, but was so worried I'd turn into something I despised.

    Maybe I'm just older and hopefully a little wiser, but I can actually enjoy a glass without wanting excess and getting wasted


    Anyway, point of this was to ask what is the longest you went without drinking? Stories if any?

    Anyways, I don't really drink often and when I do I hardly know what to drink since I am not much a beer guy. I do enjoy a nice wine like mentioned though.

    Since I came to college? Probably 5 days. I rarely drank in high school then all of the sudden I go to school and every night my friends and I go out to the bars or to house parties.

    In all seriousness. Me too. They say alcoholism is only broken every other generation, unless someone like you takes a stand. me, I don't know. still strong job dating girls who drink more than me. single. no family. it is a problem. not for work though, so maybe i need to realize i could be better. like batman jones did.

    i do know one thing. i pissed of Clutch on purpose while i was drinking and wanting to show my girlfriend i could give up cfnet for her...as a new years resolution to her. I waited 5 days for something to happen for me to do harikari, and then Doc Rocket showed up on January 5th, with his annoying crap that I know annoys Clutch. Yes, hey gf watch me get banned as proof of my love/resolution to you.

    stupid.

    clutch is more important than a gf. what?

    Probably between 6-12 months. I'm not a big drinker. I just don't feel the need. I last had alcohol on New Years Even when I had some champagne. The only problem is that when people offer me a drink and I decline, they assume I'm an alcoholic.

    Funny when you decline, people automatically think the worst. I've had a second job in a bar for nine years, and when people wanted to buy me a drink and I told them I don't drink, their response was always, what happened or how can you not drink working in a bar? It's rather easy, after years of watching alcohol be a large contributor in fights, infedelity or just people being plain stupid it was easy.

    I haven't drank a drop of alcohol this year. I have smoked at least a total of a couple pounds of weed tho.

    Well, I can say 10yrs for pot. Not to say there is anything wrong it, just I gave up pot because I can't mix. So chose alcohol over pot.

    what?

    maybe I'm wrong.

    I was drinking new years eve, but have not drank since new years. I always mix alcohol & pot, I think reason being I've NEVER had a hangover.

    Yeah I smoke like a chimeny, 3-5 blunts a day. Is that bad? Haha
