Maybe BrianKagy could get this guy to sell his amp for him. If the original amp was worth $500, then BK should expect $250,000 for his roughed up amp!:D

The idiots bidding on it must not realize that their bid is a legal, binding contract. He can actually turn around & sue them in court for breach of contract.

    rockHEAD,

I once saw someone with a negative 7 feedback & 0 positive feedback. When I looked at his bidding history, I found out that he bid on over 100 auctions & had won 30-40 different auctions for a little over $30,000. Many of the items were big dollar amounts & he used "Buy it Now" to close them early. That was aperfect example of Ebay doing nothing to police their site.

I'm in the loooooong & tedious process of filing a claim for fraud against a guy out in California. He was selling PS2's, Xboxes, & a couple of other items just before Christmas. So far we know that there are at least 150 people that were defrauded for a little over $50,000. Oh yeah, we've all received what his deceptive wording said we'd get, a picture of the item. However, he won't be getting away with it. The FBI is already on the case. I just hope I get to see them cuff him & stuff him.

I got stuck by a guy who was selling PS2s this past fall. I won an auction, and like an idiot, I sent him $350. Never saw anything. Slowly but surely his feedback started going negative. It got all the way to negative 26. I sh*t you not.

So anyway, about a month later I filed a complaint. That took about another 6 weeks. I got a refund for the auction price minus a $25 deductible.

    F*cking preks.

probabbly because the lister and bidder are the same person. Dont sellers have to keep a credit card on file? thing about the end of auction fees on that.

I'll never buy anything on Ebay just because I'm afraid of getting scammed. Even if I can get my money back, the hassle isn't worth it.

I am actually considering buying something on e-bay, but I'm scared to death that I'll get screwed too. I'd like to hear some good stories to off-set the bad ones that I've just read. Also, do any of you E-bay veterans have any helpful advice?

I've bought a few things...as a newbie, I'd stick to those sellers who have overwhlemingly positive feedbacks (I've seen people with 10,000 positives and no negatives, though you don't have to go that far) and have been around for awhile.

Never hurts to email the seller - most of them who are truly interested in doing business will be more than happy to answer questions.

And just don't overbid on something! Read the descriptions very carefully. Like Hottodie's experience shows, be very careful in reading what you are bidding for. If you have any questions, ask the seller. Many are straightforward, though.

Ive bought speakers on ebay that cost over $1000. The guy had only a few positive feedbacks. I emailed him and he gave me his phone number. I talked to him, he "sounded" like a trustworthy guy. Sure enough I piad him first and recieved the item as described.

I've bought various other things that have cost hundreds of dollars. Have not been screwed once (knocking like a madman on my wooden table!).

Just look to see if the seller has a good number of positive feedbacks.

Email the seller with any questions.

See the forms of payment he excepts (if its a guy that only excepts cash, and he lives in someplace like Hong Kong, THEN DO NOT BUY THE ITEM)!

Check out to see if he has an "About Me" icon.

I've had well over 100 transactions and have only had 1 bad experience. I guess I'm naive in thinking Ebay will protect me if I'm ever ripped off, but I don't buy very many pricey things.
I've even missed the end of an auction that didn't sell and emailed the seller asking if they still wanna sell it, sent the stranger a money order and still gotten the product. Whos to say they could claim they never got anything or it wasn't within the Ebay boundries?
Imagine the amount of auctions that happen every day and the amount of people that get screwed and the ratio is pretty damn good I'll bet.

    Ebay good, spending bad
