I've always loved the Bizkit, but after 'New Old Songs," I see why Wes left the band. It seems like Fred wants to be a totally hip hop band.

LB had the perfect combination of Hip Hop & Rock on Significant other, and ever since then they've been more and more hip ho.

 

Limp Bizkit blows.

My guess was correct. After looking it up, there is only one Guitar Center in Austin at 2525 W. Anderson Lane.

Heavy Metal Honky Whiteboy Rap music is as annoying and painful to listen to as Karl Malone trying to put a coherent sentence together.

Limp Bizkit sucks because all their songs consist of a 30 year old guy talking about breaking stuff and then whining about some chick that dumped him (maybe you shouldn't have trashed her house Fred - hmmm?). Of course in reality, he's not some anarchic wildman but rather a calculating businessman exploiting teen angst. That makes him a poseur.

Musically, Fred Durst uses the same vocal ticks in every song and the band plays with a lead foot. The music is neither over-the-top aggressive nor complex enough to withstand multiple listening. When I hear Limp Dickzit, it just sounds bland and uninspired.

No, but I'm getting there. I find Limp Bizkit's music boring, mundane, and so atrocious that it is laughable. I like music, preferably blues music, with singers who sing. If I wanted to listen to someone scream at me, I'd call my Mom on the telephone.

I am ashamed to say that I have Limp Bizkit's 2nd CD, "Significant Other". That CD along with the "History of Rock" and "Devil Without a Cause" by Kid Rock are probably the worst CDs that I own, IMO.

You see when I first bought those CDs, my music taste was geared to what was popular . When I saw "Nookie" and "Cowboy" every day on MTV and TRL, I got hooked.

I do have to say that Wes Borland is a very good guitar player, but is not as good as an Adam Jones of Tool or Kim Thayill (sp?) of Soundgarden or Jerry Cantrell of Alice in Chains. What he makes up though on those guys is his weird and bizarre on-stage appearance with the black contacts, etc. (When I first saw him on TV, I thought he was wearing a mask or a false face!).

My musical taste took a sharp turn when I purchased "Play" by Moby. I realized, that in my opinion (mind you), that a lot of times the best music is not the most popular music. Granted, music is highly subjective and while Play, Radiohead's music, and Massive Attack's music may be considered great by me, you may not get anything out of it. However, I do believe that when push comes to shove..it's the "OK Computer" and "Play" CDs that will still be played 20 years from now compared to the "Devil Without a Cause" and the "Significant Other" CDs. You will probably disagree with me, but realize that many people (music critics, especially) don't think too highly of Limp Bizkit, Kid Rock, etc.

Of course, Fred Durst's attitude and ego doesn't help in taking LB seriously, but I realize that he does it to sell albums just like Brian Warner aka Marilyn Manson does his schtick so he could sell albums as well. (For the record, I think that Manson is a terrible band musically wise & I wouldn't waste any money on him).

If you really like rock music, I mean hard stuff, I would ask you to explore some of these bands and their CDs. I wouldn't necessarily buy this stuff, but maybe borrow a friend's copy or download some songs off the Internet:

Smashing Pumpkins - Siamese Dream, Mellon Collie & the Infinite Sadness

Tool - Aenima, Undertow

Nine Inch Nails - All CDs especially The Downward Spiral

Black Sabbath - for now just a greatest hits or other compilation CD

Any good Grunge Band like Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Alice in Chains. Also, check out Temple of the Dog.

There are more out there, but this is what I like the most. I'm not into stuff like Slayer, Pantera, Megadeth, or groups like that. However, if those bands interest you more than what I listed than I would consult other posters here because I know there are posters here that listen to those bands.

The most important thing, though, is that the CDs you have give you pleasure when you listen to them. If Limp Bizkit or whoever does that for you, then I wouldn't worry about being chastised or ostracized for liking them.

BTW - If you do decide to give those other bands like the Pumpkins a try, try to sit down and really concentrate on listening to the music. Don't be expecting "smash" hits on first listen; this is stuff that demands repeated playing and rewards the listener immensely.

I have Lateralus, but I haven't listened to it in awhile. I got off on this techno/electronica kick with Moby, Orbital, Chemical Brothers, etc.

I am going to listen to it very soon, like either tonight or tomorrow, but my first impression was that they were trying very hard (Tool) not to make another "Aenima" that it, Lateralus, came across as a mild disappointment. However, it still is better than most of the stuff out there, but then again, trying to outdo Aenima was no easy task, just like Radiohead trying to outdo "OK Computer" with Kid A (However, I like Kid A better than OK Computer, but I feel that OK Computer is the greater album).

I'm starting to get into Industrial and just ordered KMFDM's "Nihil". I can't wait for it to come! My new Year's resolution should be to quit buying so many CDs.

BTW - The Fat of the Land by Prodigy has to be one of the most evil-sounding CDs of all-time! (It's great, though, but has more of a rock edge to it than their others).

 

John Otto is creative, he's got chops to Wazoo, and is a student of the instrument always talking about how he wanted to play jazz because those guys seemed like they could play anything.

Other than that, Bizkit's getting annoying, ESPECIALLY FRED DURST!

Both of those CDs got pretty good critical reviews...and are really good overall CDS, IMO.

Now, I would be ashamed to own History of Rock or any of Limp's post-Significant Other CDs.

Nookie, n2gether now, Break Stuff, Re-Arranged, and quite a few other songs off of Significant other are pretty good.

And really there are a ton of songs that werent singles off of Devil Without a Cause that are good.
