Something is going on with this dude. The most likely explanation for the protection he gets is that he is still by far the most magnetic personality in the NBA. He is the Donald Trump of the NBA in that he is a politician who has an intense cult of personality behind him that attracts millions of fanatics who either love him or hate him. He's basically too big to fail for the NBA.

But I prefer to go with the conspiratorial and think there is something big planned for him. They are either fattening him up for a slaughter in the form of an epic shaming, either with PEDs or some connection to people like Diddy or Jay-Z, and all of their issues, or he has some future in politics, as unlikely as that may seem.

 

BTW, if the first round of All-Star votes holds, the spell that he had over America is wearing off. He should be there regardless; he is a legend, so if the coaches don't select him, Adam Silver will.

EDIT: Random thought... if Silver does not put LeBron into the All-Star Game, then his exclusion is payback for sitting out last year's All-Star Game.
