Anyone watching Late Night? He changed his format and dropped the monologue and straight to his desk to do news segment just like the daily show. I think this is the closest thing we'll get to the Daily Show. Out of all the late night shows, I think Seth Meyers will be on top because he doesn't do games or sing with the guest. He actually has jokes and pokes fun at the media better than anyone else on late night I think. Yes I know, I still watch talk shows, I am lame.
Sacrilege. That's the format of the show. Don't take a guy who who can't do stand-up. I watched a few of his eps. when he came out; terrible and I thought Fallon was as low as Late Night could get. Seth managed to drop it to an unimaginable low. His monologue was clearly his weakest part. He looked uncomfortable up there so I'm not surprised about this move. Has it improved? I haven't checked lately.
Yeah I tuned in early in his run and it was pretty boring except for when some of the SNL people dropped by to shoot the s**t. I haven't seen the new format, but it sounds like it fits him better. I'll look in to see if the changes are for the better. I like the games on late night. Jokes are jokes, but seeing celebrities do something different besides just talking is fun to watch IMO. Meanwhile on TBS Conan gives no f**ks
I agree that he looked awkward doing the monologue. I enjoy the show overall. His choice of guests is great and he doesn't like making the show about himself. I think I enjoy the show mainly because of the more obscure and interesting guests.
Is that a good or bad thing? Conan was also terrible in his start at TBS. Makes you wonder if NBC did the right thing axing him. I still think he's only good for YT clips right now. The quality of guests he gets seems to have dropped badly. Looking to see if Colbert can save late night.
Stand up? None of the monologue is standup type material. And that old format is dying. I have no problems with him shaking it up into a style that has proven to be successful in modern tv
I was one of viewers at first thinking Meyers was not late night material. He stepped his game up big time. I think after snl 40 happened, for some reason Meyers got better at delivery and telling jokes. That is what I call the evolution of a comic.
Both I guess. Conan stuck on cable where no one knows he exists. He's almost gone full nerd over there because he knows no one is watching. It's great because you get something you don't see on the other shows that have conform to everyone's taste. The skits he is doing on TBS are hilarious and would never be approved on the big 3.
My favorite bit in Conan right now is that schlansky guy who has no emotion and steals company money to buy an expresso machine.
That guy's been around since Late Night, I think. Yeah. His bits when he's walking around have fallen though. LA is just not as good a town as NY for that. Clueless Gamer is funny though.
