If this guy is telling the truth, we should all be very concerned. This is a very serious allegation, and the FBI and CIA better look into this 100%. June 21, 2002, 8:56AM FBI investigating threat heard on cell phone Associated Press LAS VEGAS -- The FBI said Thursday it is investigating a Nevada man's claim that he picked up a conversation in Arabic on his cell phone during which someone said there would be a "hit" on the "day of freedom." "We've initiated a full-scale investigation to determine if this constitutes a threat, and if so, what kind of threat," said FBI Special Agent Daron Borst in Las Vegas. Borst said agents have interviewed the man who reported the conversation, Michael Hamdan, and planned to question him again today. Hamdan said he was trying to call his wife on his cell phone Saturday when he heard Arabic voices. Hamdan, 54, said he's a naturalized U.S. citizen who was born in Lebanon and speaks Arabic. "They said in Arabic, not even a word of English, 'We are in the city of corruption, the city of prostitution, the city of gambling, the city of unbelievers,'" Hamdan told The Associated Press late Thursday. '"We are going to hit them on the day of freedom.'" Hamdan said the call lasted about 90 seconds before the line went dead. He said he believes the men were talking about July Fourth. "I was frozen, absolutely cold," Hamdan said. "I was sweating. I couldn't believe what I heard." Hamdan said he reported what he heard to the FBI early Sunday morning. Hamdan, who is married and has two children, described himself as a semiretired businessman. He said he moved to the United States in 1976.
BREAKING NEWS FBI warns of possible terror attacks with fuel tankers on Jewish schools or synagogues in U.S., overseas. Details to come. We should probably be concerned about this one as well. In other news, did anyone see that Arafat now wants to accept the Clinton peace deal he rejected a few years ago? I guess he thought this little infitada would net them more if they continued to hold out and retaliate....now Arafat can't even get them to the table. Hell, at least he acknowledges that suicide bombings will not achieve their goals and only make it that much harder to achieve a peace. Anyone also see some Israeli civilians got together and went hunting Palestinian civilians? I guess their getting pretty fed up with this ongoing bombing crap. I can't say I blame them. Hell, I would be ready to take up arms, too. A good idea was floated about that suicide bombers families should be made to pay the price if one of their family members suicide bombs. As you know, families get thousands of dollars now when one of their own suicide bombs. They also throw a party, celebrate, and get in the news encouraging this type of behavior. I think there should be some responsibility on their part. They should be dealt with cause their actually encouraging this type of behavior. If it were me and I lost my loved ones in such a barbaric way, then I would want to have justice with regards to these families cause their laughing and cheering about what happened while collecting money and encouraging more of these acts. That's not right. They may have another family member who will do a similar thing. Some how....these families have to learn that there are consequences to this type of behavior. If a suicide bomber knows that their family could suffer consequences, then he/she might not be so willing to do it. As it stands now, these families encourage this type of barbarism now. You don't see any Israeli's cheering and laughing about what's happening to the Palestinians. They know better than you or I what's going on. Even Arafat knows that militants are making the situation worse. Arafat even said that militants are instilling hatred and encouraging suicide bombers from amongst Palestinian families which, in turn, only makes the Palestinians situation worse off.
