If the New York Knicks don’t advance beyond the first round of the playoffs, I’m hearing they’ll make a major — repeat, major — push to lure legendary coach Phil Jackson out of retirement. With money being no object, the scuttlebutt is the Knicks brass may offer the “Zen Master” a four-year, $50 million deal http://www.journaltimes.com/sports/...cle_87078668-8e98-11e1-9647-001a4bcf887a.html
He's got plenty of money, he'll go where he wants. (if he returns at all) My bet is either the Heat or the Clippers. Darkhorses are the Mav's since Rick Carlisle contract is up after the season, and they could make some good signings in the off-season.
Does Jackson live in L.A. still? Dude has some health issues. Nothing he can't overcome. Seems he'd take a warm-weather option (Clips). Miami? Riley'd want him to commit to an interview and at the interview have him killed.
PJ will be 67 years-old later this year. I think he's done. Physically, I doubt he can give his all to coaching a team for 8-9 months a year and at some point both your mental facilities and ability to relate to players begin to decline. Throwing a bunch of money at him is a mistake but I doubt he takes the bait anyway. The only team with a chance is the Knicks.
