Van Gundy is just a markedly better coach than Ty Lue. It is ridiculous for the former to be the assistant to the latter. Lue should be the vibes coach and leave all the actual coaching to JVG.

I'm happy for Van Gundy. He is probably making as much money as some head coaches. Too bad his success depends on the rusted and busted knees of Kawhi Leonard.

    Ecstatic for Jeff...

In spite of their injury prone cast, the Clippers will be much better with his presence.

He'll help right away...and, is the HC in waiting.

@MadMax -- tell this guy about Lue's sublime rotations and his out-of-timeout plays.

I'm stunned at this point JVG would be interested in being an asst coach especially with NBC getting back in the NBA tv line you would think he would be a candidate for a job on the broadcasts,

I think he’s done with the league on that front for now.

Lue is an incredible coach. Among the best in the league …those two aspects in particular are a huge reason why.

Kawhi Leonard being on the bench for most of the season.

Jeff Van Gundy and Kawhi Leonard conversation be one word Question and Answer.

Which one had LeBron, Kyrie, and Kevin Love on their team? It was probably the coaching though, not like any of those players went on to win the title without Lue.

    They are very different coaches.

JVG is far more organized and focused.

Ty Lue is smarter than JVG, he is exceptional at making adjustments and counters.

JVG should be an executive in the Rockets organization.

Ty Lue played a huge part in that series victory, he badly out coached Kerr with his adjustments in that series. It was one of the best in series coached Finals in decades. It is hard to think of another example other than the Larry Brown Pistons.

Lue has weaknesses when it comes to organization and structure- but he is a savant at finding counters in a game/series.
