Hill positive about recovery from sprained right knee

Rockets center Jordan Hill on Saturday stepped up his rehabilitation from a sprained right knee to include on-court shooting drills after practice with hopes to play on the upcoming road trip.

Hill said he hoped he could play in Boston or Toronto on Tuesday or Wednesday but added that it is more likely he would return Saturday in New Jersey.

Hill missed the past six games but thought the injury was much worse when he was hurt at practice Feb. 18.

“It was definitely a bad injury,” Hill said. “It was the first time I ever had it. I thought it was something totally, totally horrible that was going to end my career. Luckily, it wasn’t. It’s going along good. They said I’m recovering faster than most people would from a sprained MCL.

“You see injuries. When I fell at practice, I’ve seen a lot of injuries like that to the knee. It comes out with torn MCLs, out for the rest of the season. People never come back from those injuries. Luckily, it was a sprained MCL. The doctor said I’ll be fine.”

Hill will have to wear a brace when he returns but said he is adjusting to it. The Rockets have been outrebounded in every game he missed.

“Believe me, that’s not a coincidence because if we’re not rebounding well, I usually throw Jordan in and Jordan goes gets you seven, eight,” coach Kevin McHale said. “That’s been a problem for our team. That means everybody has to rebound better.”

Good thing to hear but you know things are really going wrong if Jordan Hill is our savior. It's time for Darrel Maury to deliver... All I hope is that the splash(es) will be bigger than last year's.
