I always get this ohhh a coach is not good or is a loser if they never win a championship(adelman, gary kubiak(i know nfl but still this question is because of him)... and many more)

So i asked that one guy is jerry sloan a loser since you said that

he was like no atleast he gets to the playoff most of the times

I told him that Jerry sloan is not a winner if he doesnt have a ring.

What do you guys think of jerry sloan???

    Hall of Fame coach.

By the way...the criticism of Kubiak isn't that he didn't win a ring in Houston...it's that after 5 years they haven't made the playoffs.

There are many factors in winning a championship. The coach is only one of them. Whenever people use titles ONLY to measure the greatness of a coach or a player in a team sport, it's pretty much too simplistic to take seriously.

A toP 5 center and top 5 point guard of all time, playing together, during he peaks offhand careers. Either some questionable gm'ing or, yes Sloan is ultimately a loser. I understand MJ was playing those years but the Rockets still won 2 championships.

Many other locales and Jerry Sloan would have been long gone. I don't think he's a bad coach but would rather be he Rockets of the last 20 years than the Jazz. If he was available to coach m favorite team, I'd pass. This isn't about second place. Go big or go home.

    Players reflect their coaches...

But Jerry Sloan's a HOF coach without a doubt. I would actually root for them this year, but i just cant stand Kirlinko, Okur, and especially their fans.

Year after year no matter who he has on his team he makes the Jazz a contender. He gets his guys to give them everything they have regardless of their talent level.

He definitely is a hall of fame coach. I don't have to like the team or him personally but bottom line he is a coach that anyone would want on their team.

It's not like his teams considerable overachieve. People I guess overlook the fact that his team always has great players.

Solid coach (miles better than Kubiak) but overrated, imo

Although this thread is ultimately the biggest "LOSER" it does raise one recurring thought I have had over the years. How is it that a coach who is a reputed tough guy who doesn't put up with cry-baby b.s. from players or appreciate refs taking over the game engender a wussified theatrical style of play that caters to whiney floppers relying on awful officials doling out imbalanced favorable calls? Furthermore, how does this pattern continue over the span of a career that sees players come and go with the play style being the only constant?

    Don't you mean a top 1 PF and a top 1 PG? Malone wasn't a C.
