    Recent:
Listen to Jay Reatard's "Blood Visions" - punk that manages to be catchy without being pussified for teenage girls.
Astrobrite "White Noise Superstar" is very noisy.
Dark Meat "Universal Indians" is like Lynyrd Skynyrd on a meth binge that would kill the entire population of a trailer park in minutes ... and they have a horn section.
Melt Banana "Bambi's Dilemma" will melt your brain in the cutest way possible.

    Not-so-recent:
Slapp Happy/Henry Cow "Desperate Straights" is like a cross between Kurt Weill and Soft Machine with Edith Piaf singing.
Bob Drake "The Skull Mailbox and Other Horrors" is made up of a bunch of very short songs that sound like ghost stories told by a drunk while playing an ancient accordian in an abandoned barn.
Acoustica "Alarm Will Sound" is a chamber ensemble doing frighteningly accurate cover versions of Aphex Twin songs.
Wire "Chairs Missing" and "154" was Post-Punk before anyone knew that punk was dead. Wire could write a song with one chord in it and it would sound awesome.
