DUBLIN, Ireland (October 9, 2001 7:52 a.m. EDT) - Police were questioning four foreigners arrested Tuesday on suspicion of involvement in the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks on the United States.

Police spokeswoman Lynne Nolan said four foreigner were arrested following police raids on five properties in south Dublin early Tuesday. They were the first arrests in Ireland in connection with the U.S. attacks.

Nolan said the four were aged 24 to 39, but offered no immediate information on their nationalities.

They were being questioned at two Dublin police stations under terms of Ireland's anti-terror laws, which allow suspects to be held for up to 72 hours before being charged or released.
