So what do you think of them? Is it a good thing that anyone can play any music at your favorite bar? I had a friend tell me he thinks they will be the death of a lot bars because the punk kids come in and and play their horrible rap "screw" etc at the local sports bar that chases the regulars away. If I owned a bar I would want to choose exactly what gets played (but still a wide selection), to set a definitive ambiance to the place.
They're pretty sweet, a little more expensive IIRC. They have a wide selection of artists but rarely carry a whole album, just the more popular songs. It's kinda cool that you can search for music but you have to use 2 song credits to do so. Nothing beats a regular juke box IMO.
I don't mind the crappy music most of the time because most of the bars I go to that have them turn them off during the games. However, at The Wetspot on Monday I had to go throw a couple dollars in the jukebox, baby. I apparently do not love Rock and Roll as much as Joan Jett. Ugh.
You sir are da man. I try to pick some of the best 7 minute or longer songs (like Marquee Moon or Not just knee deep) to get my money's worth.
Theres a jukebox at a pub we used to frequent that had the option to play the entire first side of Rush's 2112 for a quarter. Man, we used to clear that place out as soon as we got there!
i love em. i've even been able to play a live Panic album practically from start to finish. cant do that with anything else. besides, whenever some douchbag gets on there and plays some garbage like linkin park or some ear-gouging rap, we just boo relentlessly throughout the song to show our displeasure.
I think they are fantastic, and I don't think they will "ruin" a lot of bars, because the owner of the juke boxes have to have at least some control over what shows up on them. I could be wrong, but I don't believe someone would buy a Jukebox that they couldn't control the content of...
The owner of the bar definitely can control the content in the jukebox. The BW3 near me had most of the rap taken out. It was kind of weird as they kept all the explicit rock and dance music in there.
I don't agree with this. Most bars have a certain clientle type, so you won't hear Screw mixes in a crowd that predominantly doesn't listen to it. The bar I go to that has an internet jukebox can control the content, AND has a little volume nob at the bar to turn down the music during games.
Damn, so no, "Back then hoes didn't want me, now I'm hot hoes all on me?" What has the world come to? Me personally, I would play Interpol all night long.
