Anyone want to do a spur of the moment BBS lunch today? I'm bored as hell here at work and no one is here. I know this may be a little late but its worth a shot. I'm good for just about anything.
what is this all about? my co-worker left work to do the same thing. i don't remember this at school growing up. please explain if you can. thx.
Really? Parents came to my school and ate lunch with their kids all the time. MB, Can't make it today, but I owe you wings!
i'm not sure what it's "all about." i did put my left hand in...and put my left hand out, though. i'm told, that's what it's all about. i just picked up some Whataburger..checked in at the school office..and ate lunch with my son and his friends. most fun i've had at lunch in months!
I went to 2 elementary schools and I don't recall that at all. Is the purpose to enforce parent/child quality time? I'm just wondering what the basis is. If you can inform me from a school or teacher view, I'd appreciate it. Also, what about the kids that parents can never make it? Do they feel bad or left out? I guess it just seems odd to me since I had never heard of this til today.
it's not required in any way. i just showed up. i sent a note ahead with my son telling her i'd be joining them for lunch, and bringing my son's lunch with me. we're not asked to, even. but we were told at the beginning of the year that we could.
IIRC, it wasn't a set day where parents could do this. If a parent wanted to come eat lunch with their kid, it was allowed. Of course, there was probably some sort of protocol in place, but I was too young to recognize it. My favorite was when my big sisters who were in college would come eat with me.
Kids at the Harris County Juvenile Detention Facility are allowed visitors once a week. I suspect that RM95 might be leaving out a few key details...
Man, I seem to recall a set day for that when I was in elementary. If I'm allowed to just show up, I'd bring Pizza for my future kid(s) and his friends to make him popular because in Elementary, that kind of thing is still ok, they aren't lame for having parents show up at school. And if he or she didn't have friends, he would once they realize the benefits. I'm going to be a real bad parent some day...
Don't direct your anger at me. It's not my fault that Sonny's BYOB wouldn't let your Mom off of work to have lunch with you. (just in case it wasn't obvious I was kidding)
What happened to the good old days when you had to eat your lunch all alone, and outside in the snow?
Honestly, I don't remember this either and I'm in my early 30's...I do this for my kids when I'm in town, and they love it and so do I...It's kinda funny as when your kid, you can't wait to stop eating cafeteria food and when your a grown-up, you can't wait to get cafeteria food...
The sad thing is, that was my first stripclub experience. I had to fight the guys to let me go because they were sure I'd never want to step foot in another one after that dump. What's that place on LaSalle, close to the circle. Mmm, Waco strip clubs.
This is indeed a nice hijacking. We went from seeing if anybody wants to go eat lunch....to eating lunch with elementary school kids....to a crappy meal at Reliant stadium...to the Harris County Juvenile Detention Facility...to strip clubs in Waco, TX. Fantastic
