Its a pitty, but Sam the man would be a perfect fit for this Rockets team. Its a pitty because I doubt MIN would give him up, unless they thought they could acquire players that would take them to the next level.

I started thinking about this possibility when GP said no to BOS and yes to HOU, MIN or GS. Wally could be an Ainge type player and if the right three way could be worked...who knows?

I know its late, but Sam Cassell is the one Rocket I truly wished we had never traded. His passion and ability would be a great asset to this team. Oh, well such is life.

The one Rocket I wished never traded was Hakeem with Horry as a close second.

Cassell has always been a favorite of mine- he played with so much heart as a rookie and sophomore-helped us to two rings -I will not ever forget that..

We gave up too much for a fat -out of shape never come to training camp in condition - BArkley...

Cassell would have solved our point guard position for years

    TBar,

I wonder what would have been if we would have stayed the course and kept Cassell and Horry.

    woulda, coulda, shouldas ...

but, as much as I like Barkley the person, I think it was the biggest mistake we made during the 90's.

Barkley drove Clyde away a year or two too early. With Clyde there, we wouldn't have traded for Pippen, and then ended up with all the bad contracts, from Cato to Williams. We wouldn't have signed Maloney to a long contract. The next year, we would have drafted Lewis, since we didn't have Pippen. That year, McDeyss was a FA, and he said he didn't sign with us, because we didn't have a good point guard. We brought Barkley in to help us past Seattle, but they declined after that. I believe we'd have gone to 2 or 3 more championships with Dream/McDeyss/Horry/Glyde/Cassell. Of course, we wouldn't have gotten Francis, who has ultimately led to TMac ... and maybe, we wouldn't have gotten the number one pick later to get Yao either. So, it all works its funny way out.
