    In trades?

    On the cap?

How much does #1 cost us? What is the rookie scale?

I'm no aelliott or heypartner or NIKEstrad, but here's what I think is the answer -

    1) $0 value in trade of rights (unsigned). Contract value if signed, but can not be traded until after Dec. 15th.

    2) They count Rookie scale against the cap, but teams are allowed to sign them regardless of cap situation.

    3) Rookie scale for #1 pick for the next 4 seasons:

    $3,215,200 / $3,456,300 / $3,697,400 / 26.1%

However, a team may actually sign a player for as little as 80% or as much as 120% of the scale salary figure.

    I hope this helps.

    GATER pretty much covered it.

As GATER mentioned, each first round slot has a predetermined "scale". The team and player may sign as little as 80% of that, or as much as 120% of it.

As far as trades, you can only trade a rookie's rights, which have $0 dollar trade value, and once signed a rookie can't be traded in a multi-player deal until Dec. 15 (if memory serves), kind of like a new free agent signing.

I will mention that they count 80% of the "scale" until signed (then they count for that amount). This doesn't really matter, because we'll be over the cap, so that amount doesn't impact us.

The Coon FAQ has a link for each rookie scale, every year. If GATER's info is right (it looks right), I'd guess the #5 or #6 would start out around 2.7 or 2.8 mill a year.

so the three rookies we draft may not be a significant impact to our Salary Cap *this* year
