    Marathoner Killed In Kenya Violence

TRANS MARA, Kenya -- A marathon champion was killed in violence in Kenya, KPRC Local 2 reported.

Wesly Ngetich, 34, died Monday after he was shot in the chest with an arrow during fighting in his home region of Trans Mara.

Ngetich ran in marathons across the world and finished second in the 2006 Chevron Houston Marathon. He set his personal best time of 2:12:10 in Houston.

"He was a real good runner," marathon runner Joe Flores said. "All those guys from Kenya, when they come here, they're real good runners. That's why they come here."

He won the 2005 and 2007 Grandma's Marathon in Duluth and planned to defend his title in June.

Ngetich was married with three children.
