    read this yesterday in the Chronicle, funny thing is it seems like the dealership was willing to sell but eventually found out check wasn't legitimate

    this reminded me of a story from when i was a teller

    chick comes in to cash a check that was hand written for $9,500. so many red flags went up that I started investigating. check was "legit" so was signature. the account was a business account that was open for about a month.

    long story short, the account was opened with a fake check from a mortgage company, amount was $250,000 and the guy who opened it had already gotten $50K in cash
