Hot Spots for the Big Three

    I just added some tags to each zone indicating the percentage of FGA taken from each spot. As of 3/18.

    LeBron and D-Wade really like that elbow jumper on the left side. Kobe is great all-around, but particularly lethal on that elbow jumper on the right side.

    When LeBron gets near the basket, he needs to take it all the way in for a layup/dunk. He won't finish 5-10 from the basket at a high percentage. Teams evidently know that, so its kind of amazing he's still able to get to the basket so much and convert at such a high percentage.

    None of them take many corner threes, which makes sense because they're usually creating for themselves and others in the middle of the court.

    Quick observations to start with:

    Wade loves to juke right, crossover to his left and pull up. Nobody I've ever seen does that move as effective as him (MJ vs. Bryon Russell aside). Not even close. That's why on every area of the floor he takes more shots on the left side than the right. I could have told you before seeing this that the left elbow jumper is his staple perimeter shot. Many times he will fake a drive down the middle and pull up from there. The fact Wade has only 2 blue areas shows how sickly efficient he is.

    Kobe is the exact opposite and likes to shoot from the right. I know the graphic shows his most common perimeter shot is the right elbow jumper, but his signature move (IMO) is that unblockable fadeaway turnaround from the right baseline. When he feels it and the defense is tightening up around him late in games, that's his move of first resort.

    About all I can say on LeBron is keep working, your perimeter game has come along nicely. You still have room for improvement. Lastly, stay away from the baseline unless you can get to the rim.
