My wife and I are going to get some theater tickets for some upcoming shows. We think we are going to get the season pass for Broadway Across America in Houston for Evita, Annie, Wicked, Golda's Balcony, and the Lion King. I think I might have already missed the chance to get Evita on the season pass, but that's OK. Does anyone have any idea on where to sit in the Hobby Center? Are there bad seats? I'm pretty open on how much to spend, but they don't seem to have center orchestra available or anything. Is side orchestra OK? The mezzanine? If anyone attends events at the Hobby Center, I'd appreciate some advice.
I love the Hobby Center!! The mezzanine seats are just fine as long as you are not too far back (under the level above you). Some sets have things up high and when you are sitting real far back, you can't see it. Besides that, it's a great place with good seats everywhere. I saw Phantom of the Opera there in July and saw David Carr there. I don't have the package, but a friend of mine does and she says they are extremely flexible in switching tickets, upgrading your seats and watching shows in other cities too.
I hate the fact that this is so expensive to go to. $100-500 a ticket? I'll get courtside seats, or 50 yard liners first. If theyd drop it to $20, I'd go. Some actually look entertaining.
They are not that expensive FFB. Chicago $27-72 Jekyll & Hyde $25-45 CATS $27-72 I think the Phantom tix were ~$60ish. Les Mis seats I had (boyfriend bought me) were really nice in the Orchestra and ~$80ish.
I just received the book listing dates and prices for the shows coming up in the next few months. It showed the uppur and lower sections by color coordination. Cheapest seats in there were going for $100. Is there a place that offers these cheaper? According to the book, no.
I got it from the hobby center website. I know for sure about the Phantom and Les Mis tix since I went to those.
I just bought season passes for my wife and I on orchestra level - right. Decent seats...they were $262 per seat for all four shows..so that's $65.50 per show. The rep said that I'll see that its a discount on some of the shows with the Wicked and Lion King seats in that area for about $75-80 if you buy seperatly. They did have some decent seats in the $200 range as well...so it can be affordable. Someone I work with said she got in early in the season as a renewal for $129 per seat for first row mezzanine which was a steal. Not bad...broadway touring shows of Wicked, Lion King, Golda's Balcony and Annie. I bought additional premium center orchestra seats for Lion King as well...just to be down close...$81 each...you have to have a season pass to buy individual tickets to that show right now...so the seats are prime.
The Hobby Center is a beautiful place to see a show. My brother and his wife got the season pass as well and they loved it. I believe it comes w/ a VIP pass for which you can get free drinks and food during intermission.
